There are many sites that do an excellent job of explaining finance topics in great detail, but not many that my short attention span can handle. My mind tends to drift if I have to read more than a few paragraphs to understand the topic of the article or blog post. I can’t help it, that’s just the way I’ve always been. For this reason, I decided that I would try to create a place where the financial issues that we all deal with are concentrated down so that you get the info that you need quickly.
Popcorn Finance Rules
To accomplish this goal, I needed a restriction, a guideline, to keep me in check. I went back and forth trying to decide what could I do to keep any content that I create concise. That's when the idea for popcorn “popped” 😬 into my head. Popcorn has a very short cooking time, seconds can make a huge difference. It’s a thin margin of time that decides whether you will have a delicious snack or a room that smells like a burning disaster. On top of that popcorn is just fun to watch cook in the microwave.
The “Science” of Popcorn Finance
Based on my highly scientific research I found that the average microwave cooking time for a bag of
popcorn is roughly 2 minutes and 30 seconds. This seemed like a reasonable amount of time for any
type of visual or audio content, but, how could I use this to keep my writing under control. After some more highly complicated and grueling research, google told me that the average adult is capable of reading between 200 and 250 words per minute (this excludes college students who read at a much higher rate). I put these two together and came up with a word count limit of 500 to 625 words. This will be my rule of thumb. Will I sometimes break this rule by writing fewer than 500 words, yes, because I’m lazy. However, my promise is that I will never exceed it. If I can’t think of anything else to say I’m going to stop writing.
So please, let me know what you think
You can contact me through the Contact Me tab above or via Instagram or Twitter. I would love to hear your feedback so that I know how to continue with my content. My ultimate goal is to expand into audio and video formats, but that will come as I refine my ideas. Thank you for taking the time to read this introduction and I hope you will continue to visit and check out all the new things to come.
